Art, Craft and Design

This course is about using inspiration from visual research and ideas development to create exciting printed, or textured, outcomes.

The course includes a multidisciplinary exploration of drawing, printed textiles, ceramics, and photography. You will explore and experiment with a wide range of art, craft and design materials and techniques in our specialist studios. Taking inspiration from the work of other artists and designers, you will become confident and independent in your application of a wide range of traditional and digital techniques.

Through the investigation of the work of other designers you will build your confidence and respond in personal and imaginative ways, producing exciting outcomes suitable for a wide range of different art, craft and design contexts.

The A Level Surface Design pathway may be followed in partnership with other Art and Design courses and would particularly suit those students wishing to explore and refine their skills in a wider range of art, craft and design techniques alongside their A Level studies in Textiles, Graphics and Photography. It can also be complimented with a variety of options on offer at South Craven.
