Each year our Performance Faculty stages a major school production, performed in December in the Fells Theatre. These productions are a highlight of the school calendar and provide students with the opportunity to experience all aspects of theatre-making, from acting and singing to stage management, lighting and set design.
Recent productions have included Sister Act, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, and Legally Blonde, showcasing a wide range of styles and talents.
In addition to the cast, students can join the school band, performing live alongside the production. We actively encourage any student who plays an instrument to get involved, regardless of experience level.
Students across all year groups have the opportunity to take part in the Shakespeare Schools Festival, one of the UK’s largest youth drama events. Participants rehearse an abridged Shakespeare play and perform it at a professional theatre to a paying audience.
With around 1,500 schools participating nationwide, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of something truly special while developing confidence, performance skills and a deeper appreciation of Shakespeare.
We offer a wide range of educational and enrichment trips, both within subject areas and as extracurricular opportunities.
Previous destinations have included Ghana, where students contributed to building a canteen at Elmina Methodist School, and New York, offering cultural and educational experiences across a variety of subjects.
The Sixth Form Committee plays a key role in shaping student life. It is responsible for organising social events, leading charity fundraising initiatives and representing the views of the Sixth Form within the wider school community.
Committee members take on specific roles and responsibilities, developing valuable skills such as leadership, teamwork, organisation and communication. This is an excellent opportunity for students to make an impact on school life while building experience that will benefit them beyond Sixth Form.
Our Student Ambassadors act as representatives of the school and Sixth Form at a variety of events, including open evenings, taster days and external visits. They also support departments by sharing their experiences and passion for their chosen subjects.
Becoming a Student Ambassador is an excellent way to develop confidence, public speaking skills and professionalism. It also provides strong evidence of commitment and leadership, making it a valuable addition to university applications, CVs and personal statements.
