Safeguarding and E-Safety

Safeguarding is a priority at South Craven.

Our dedicated Safeguarding Leaders work to create a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every member of our school feels valued and protected. We regularly keep students and staff updated with the latest safeguarding guidance, important safety information and current issues affecting young people, helping everyone to understand how they can contribute to keeping themselves and others safe.

Our approach is underpinned by our SAFE Agenda - Supportive Action for Everyone. This reflects our commitment to taking positive action to promote the safety and wellbeing of our whole school community. We welcome external speakers and safeguarding professionals to work with our staff, providing expert training and ensuring that our knowledge and practice remain current. Through ongoing training, assemblies, workshops and communication, we make sure safeguarding remains an active and shared responsibility across our school.

We want our students to know that their voice matters. Students are encouraged to speak to a trusted member of staff or a Safeguarding Leader if they have any concerns about themselves or another student. No concern is too small, and we will always listen, take concerns seriously and ensure that appropriate support is put in place.

We ask parents and carers to get in touch with us if they have any safeguarding concerns or queries, so that we can provide appropriate support and take action where necessary.

By working together through our SAFE Agenda, we strive to make our school a place where everyone feels safe and confident to speak up.

Operation Encompass

Operation Encompass is a charitable organisation set up in 2011, which has since enabled effective interventions to many thousands of children who've experienced domestic abuse. 

This code sets out the key rights and minimum level of support that children experiencing domestic violence and abuse should expect from all professionals. Professionals includes, but is not limited to, police, health, education, local authorities, domestic violence and abuse support services and the judiciary.

The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report.
