Year 10 and 11 Curriculum

The Core Subjects

The National Curriculum states that all students must study a core curriculum of:

  • English Language and English Literature GCSEs
  • Mathematics GCSE
  • Combined Science GCSE (Students in the top sets will have the option to apply to study Triple Science)
  • Beliefs and Values (Delivered through tutor time, assemblies and some subjects)
  • PE

Students’ Four Choices

Students are asked to make four option choices: one from each of the lists below. Students may only choose a language if they are currently studying it. If students want to take more than one of the Core Option subjects, they can do so by picking the second from the ‘Achieve’ subject list.

We anticipate that students make choices that are a logical progression from their Year 9 curriculum. For example, students who choose Engineering will have studied Design Technology in Year 9. However, there are a range of subjects that are on offer for Key Stage 4, which are not part of the Key Stage 3 curriculum, such as Child Development.
