Computing

In Computing and IT we offer a curriculum that will help to shape analytical learners that can apply logic and problem-solving skills to maximise their potential across their learning and in future careers - a curriculum where creativity and engagement are paramount.

What will I study?

Year 7

A six-week topic is delivered in Geography lessons on behalf of the Computing & IT department.
This covers:

  • Digital literacy with Google Docs
  • My digital world (e-safety)

Year 8

  • Google Classroom and how to use the learning journal
  • Back to the future (History of Computing)
  • Websites HTML & CSS
  • Binary bits 'n' bobs
  • Control and sequencing with Flowol
  • BBC Micro:Bit (programming and controlling a hand-held computer)
  • Introduction to Python

Year 9

Core CS/IT
  • More Python programming
  • Computer networks
  • Web design
  • Digital graphics
  • AppShed (Making a mobile phone app)
Optional/Additional CS/IT
  • Systems architecture, memory and storage
  • Data representation systems
  • Software and security

Year 10

iMedia
  • Creating digital graphics

Year 11
