What are you doing now?
I am a Recruitment Consultant for Hallam Medical (a company that recruits NHS nurses). I am a key account manager for Advanced Clinical Practitioners and 111 Clinical Advisors working for the London Ambulance Service and other services based across London and parts of the West Midlands.
There are so many careers and routes students can take that they may not even be aware of!
What advice would you give your 17-year-old self?
Stop worrying so much. I spent a long time being concerned that I didn’t know what I wanted to do and didn’t have everything completely figured out.
The truth is, if I’d had more confidence and belief in my own abilities I’d have recognised that I was always going to do well in whatever I set my mind to.
I absolutely loved my time at South Craven Sixth Form – I think it’s a wonderful school. I don’t believe I would be where I am today if I’d not made the choice to attend.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of graduating with a 2:1 degree. It was one of the most challenging but incredibly enjoyable experiences - the feeling on your graduation day is amazing! I made the move from a different secondary school to South Craven Sixth Form because of the mixture of A Levels and BTECs I was offered, and credit these course options with getting me the university placement I wanted.
After Sixth Form I completed a four-year course in International Tourism Management at Sheffield Hallam University. During my time there I completely fell in love with Sheffield and have recently bought my first home and settled in the Steel City. This is what I’m most proud of – young people today face some of the biggest challenges in regards to the housing market and university debt, and in light of that, from the work I do, I’ve managed to make this achievement.
