What do you do now?Brittany Whittingham

I’m a Communications Executive at Sky Betting and Gaming – the creators of Sky Bet, Fantasy Football, Sky Vegas and Sky Casino.

After Sixth Form I started an apprenticeship at Skipton Building Society on their Connecting Our Future programme. This was a great move for me - I was able to get hands-on experience across a vast variety of business departments whilst increasing my knowledge and understanding of the financial services industry and developing vital skills.

My experiences at Skipton led me to become a specialist in Internal Communications, Events and Employee Engagement. I led the company’s colleague engagement, partnered with business areas to create and deliver strategic internal communication plans and organised corporate events from design to delivery.

After four years at Skipton I accepted a job offer at Sky Betting and Gaming. I drive brand authenticity by aligning internal communications and external messaging to build their employer brand. On top of internal communications and events, I also manage the company’s social media platforms to engage with potential talent, which provides a great stretch for me.

Working for a tech company that operates in the gambling industry can raise questions on the morality of the products, but from my experience Sky Betting and Gaming puts safer gambling at the heart of everything they do.

What advice would you give to your 17-year-old self?

Make the most of having lots of holidays and shorter working days!

What are you most proud of?

The experiences I’ve had and the specialist skills I’ve developed in a short period of time without going to university.
