Year 10 students attended this year's Science Live! event at St. George's Hall, Bradford, where they were inspired by a range of influential Scientists in different subject fields including:
- Professor Jim Al-Khalili gave the theoretical science behind time travelling and whether in principle it was possible.
- Dr Kate Lancaster is using nuclear fusion to create tiny stars and harnessing their energy to meet our power demands.
- Professor Robert Winston's talk informed us of human infertility and the need for IVF treatments.
- Professor Suzie Imber studies Space Weather and how solar activity causes the aurora borealis.
- Professor Andrea Sella looks at inorganic chemistry and how reactions cause changes in colour.
Stewart Chenery, Chief Examiner gave the students a lot of hints and tips to use in their science exams to help them achieve the higher grades.
You never know who may be the next influential scientist and what new discoveries are yet to be made!
