South Craven Celebrates A Level Success

Well done to our Year 13 students, who have achieved a fantastic set of results in their A level and Level 3 vocational courses!

Over 50% of the Level 3 results were at A*-B (Distinction*/Distinction), which is the best at the school for many years.

Headteacher, Martyn Hill, said: “I am so proud of the achievements of this year group, especially considering the challenges they have faced throughout their time in education. I want to congratulate each one of them and extend my congratulations and thanks to parents and families who have supported them so well. I also want to say thank you to the staff at South Craven, who work so hard to ensure students successfully achieve their potential."

Head of Sixth Form, Caroline Taylor, said: “This year group have been a pleasure to work with. They have all shown such resilience over the last two years. I want to congratulate each and every one of them. Their hard work has paid off and they are now ready for their next adventure. I wish them all the very best of luck with their future plans and I would love them all to stay in touch."

The CEO of Apex Collaborative Trust, John Tarbox, said: “These are fantastic results and reflect the hard work and commitment of the young people and the staff. The students have benefited from a hugely supportive learning environment at South Craven, and in turn have given a lot back to their community. They deserve their success and I wish them happiness and fulfilment in the next stage of their lives.”

Students will be going on to study at a wide range of universities, including the University of Manchester (English Literature and Creative Writing), UCLAN (Acting), the University of Hull (Paramedic Science) and Manchester Metropolitan University (Politics/Filmmaking).

Many students will also be taking up high quality apprenticeships and degree apprenticeship opportunities in a variety of settings, including a degree apprenticeship in Marketing with D & M Creative, and apprenticeships with Fives Landis Engineering, Tesco and Stirk Lambert & Co. Accountants.

The school is operating its usual post results service to any student who needs advice or guidance. Parents of children interested in joining South Craven School Sixth Form are asked to visit www.southcraven.org, or email the Sixth Form team at sixthform@southcraven.org.
