Remote Learning Procedure
|
When South Craven School needs to close, or when students cannot attend due to an enforced absence, learning will continue remotely so that education is not disrupted.
When Remote Learning Will Be Used
- The school site cannot be accessed (e.g. severe weather or building issues)
- There is enforced closure (e.g. government instruction or public health reasons)
- Individual students, classes or year groups are required to stay at home
How Remote Learning Works
- Students follow their normal school timetable where possible
- All learning materials are provided through Google Classroom
- Teachers may also use Showbie, GCSEPod, Seneca Learning, Oak National Academy or other suitable online platforms
What Students Will Receive
- Lesson resources (documents, slides, worksheets)
- They may have instructional videos or explanations
- Links to online learning platforms
- Tasks and assignments
Examples of Student Activities
- Online quizzes or tasks
- Written work, for example using Google Docs
- Presentations
- Worksheets or knowledge tests
- Uploading photos of handwritten work
- Research, note-making, summarizing, or Learn to Learn activities
Expectations for Students
- Students should complete the work set for each lesson
- Work may be checked or assessed, and feedback may be provided
- Students should act on feedback where appropriate
- Completion of work is expected
Additional Support During Longer Closures
- Extra learning materials may be uploaded to the Learn to Learn Google Site, accessible through the school website
- Some lessons may be delivered live via the school’s Zoom Pro accounts. These may be recorded for safeguarding
Non-Exam Assessments (NEA) and Coursework
- Where appropriate, coursework may be completed through Google Classroom or Showbie
- Students may be asked to confirm electronically that work is their own
- Normal school and exam-board rules on academic honesty and malpractice apply
- For assessments which are timed and/or require students to be formally supervised, we will take advice from the awarding body on how what action we should take
The school understands that issues may arise, which could impact on remote learning such as:
- Internet or device problems
- Illness of students or staff
- Where possible, the school will support families to resolve these issues.
